The prestigious competition recognizes Suunto Elementum’s stylish and urban-inspired design

iF product design awardSuunto has won the prestigious iF Product Design Award 2010 with the Suunto Elementum watch collection. The award was received in the Leisure/Lifestyle category.

The iF product design award is one of the world’s oldest, best-known design competitions and held in Germany. Hosted by iF Industrie Forum Design e.V., the competition annually convenes an international jury of design experts to examine and test products. For over fifty years, the If design award has served as a recognized trademark for outstanding design all over the world. This year, the  entries have been assessed for design quality, workmanship, choice of material, degree of innovation and functionality. This year, almost 2,500 entries from 39 countries were submitted for the iF product design category.

Suunto Elementum watches are stylish and urban-inspired which still combine the excellent craftsmanship with precision digital technology in a unique coalescence of function and form.

The collection consists of three watches, Elementum Aqua, Elementum Terra and Elementum Ventus, specifically designed for Diving, Mountaineering and Sailing. The names directly translate to Water, Earth and Wind, which are the three elements that surround the activities Suunto Elementum is inspired by and designed to help navigate through.

Suunto Elementum TerraAll the three watches are designed and manufactured in Finland, guaranteeing the perfect integration of design and engineering work that creates a true Suunto watch – a watch that is credible and functional outdoors and an eye catcher in the city.

The iF online exhibition with all the award-winning entries can be viewed on the iF website from 2 March 2010 onwards. The iF product design award yearbook 2010 will also be published on this day. Packed with products chosen by the jury and with the jury statements for each category, it is an arbiter of international contemporary design.
