5/10/2010

New online sports community powered by SuuntoWhether you’re training for your first marathon, taking part in a local triathlon event, are a post-pregnancy mum wanting to get toned again or you just want to share the beautiful sunset you saw on your 10k bike ride with others, Movescount.com, a new, online sports community powered by Suunto, is for you. The unique and easy-to-use community from Suunto, a leading sports precision instrument designer and manufacturer, gives sports fans an exciting platform to start exercising, get serious about training or just share some of the best sport experiences with new-found friends from around the world. Open to anyone who has an interest in sport and fitness, you don’t have to own a Suunto device to join in the fun.

Every sport experience whether it’s a daily jog around the park or the climb to the highest mountain is a Move! To find interesting Moves from various sports you can just click to Movescount.com and start browsing the best rated moves.

Members can make each of their moves really count through a series of easy to use features that include:

  • Your free online sports diary – a simple sports calendar allows you to chart your moves for the day or month so you soon see if you’re due a run, swim or bike ride, or if you’re over-doing it in one particular area
o Movescount.com will even generate an overview of your month’s activities so you can see if you’re on track or if you need to take your training up a level in order to achieve your personal goals
  • A place for all your social media content – Movescount.com gives members the chance to enhance their personal profiles by posting the new and exciting routes they’ve found using Googlemaps, adding images of the beautiful, scenic route they’ve just discovered from their own Flickr account and videos of the sun setting over the ocean from YouTube
o Each move can then be shared with others in a click through Digg, Facebook and Twitter
  • Plan and share detailed routes – share your favourite routes through the winding hills or warn others of the muddy tracks through the Movescount.com route planner. It’s the first online sports community that allows you to do this
o Members can then swap experiences, post tips and recommend other variations on these routes making it far more interesting and fun to try out
  • Get connected! Movescount.com lets members meet and follow likeminded people from around the world; create or join existing groups; share top tips and rate each other and their experiences.
  • Market-leading technology for both PC and Mac allows fitness enthusiasts to clearly see how many calories they’ve burned in the last workout, week or month; what their maximum heart-rate was on that challenging run; and work out their EPOC (excess post-exercise oxygen consumption), speed and distance, all through a simple, easy-to-use app
  • Unrivalled in-depth analysis! Never before has an online sports community given the user such detailed analysis of their every move through easy-to-understand graphs and charts. This means it’s easy to see the areas in which you need to improve at a glance
  • And for existing Suunto users...Suunto fans can, in addition, use Movescount.com as a way of tracking their training progress and managing their wristop settings quickly and easily online, such as personal parameters including weight or heart rate limits
