Suunto Core Anniversary Edition celebrates Suunto’s 75th anniversary

To celebrate its 75th anniversary, Suunto, a world’s leading designer of sports precision instruments, announces the new member of the award-winning Suunto Core outdoor sports instrument family, the Suunto Core Anniversary Edition.

Suunto Core Anniversary EditionAn all-in-one outdoor sports tool for the vertically inclined, the Core gathers accurately gather the range of data and information needed when exploring the wilder parts of the world. It combines altimeter, barometer, and compass functions with features such as an altitude meter and graph, sunrise and sunset times, storm alarm, and a menu in four languages. All Core Anniversary Edition watches are engraved with the 75-year jubilee logo on the back.

Accurate to 9,000 meters (29,500 feet), the Core’s altimeter displays current elevation, elevation gained and lost, and records data for later analysis. The automatic alti/baro mode switches between altimeter and barometer depending on activity and shows the most relevant information for each situation.

“Since Suunto’s beginnings 75 years ago, when avid outdoorsman Tuomas Vohlonen invented the mass-production method for the liquid-filled compass, our goal has been to make accurate, reliable, and easy-to-use sports precision instruments. In 1998 we entered the outdoor sports instrument market with the launch of the Suunto Vector, which quickly became an outdoor icon. We’re happy to announce the expansion of the distinguished Core family with the Anniversary Edition, which continues the Suunto heritage by providing clear direction and guidance even in the harshest conditions. The new Suunto Core Anniversary Edition celebrates 75 years of precision and tradition from Suunto,” says Mikko Moilanen, President, Suunto.

Suunto Core has taken the glory in one of the most renowned and hardest-fought international design competitions by winning the "red dot: best of the best" award at the red dot design competition in Germany in 2010.

The Suunto Core Anniversary Edition will be available from May at selected retailers.
