Suunto is proud to announce that it will continue the long-term relationship with AIDA International, the worldwide federation for freediving.
As a leading designer and manufacturer of sports precision instruments for the most challenging conditions, Suunto is committed to support AIDA in setting even higher standards in freediving and supporting the community worldwide.
Specially engineered Suunto D-Series dive computers will be used by all AIDA athletes to certify world record attempts in upcoming competitions and World Championships. AIDA will also use Suunto’s online sports community, Movescount.com, to help its members and athletes track their freediving training. World championship dives will be posted on Movescount.com to allow fans to analyse each dive.
“Accurate and reliable depth measurement in the freediving world record attempts and World Championships is a must. We are very proud that AIDA has again chosen Suunto dive computers as the official depth gauges in these events. Our 75 year long heritage in manufacturing sports instruments combined with our new on-line diving community offer all freedivers around the world the best possible tools in their sport”, says Suunto President Mikko Moilanen
For AIDA President Kimmo Lahtinen, the decision to cooperate with Suunto for competitions and world record attempts has clear benefits for the federation. “100% accurate depth measurement is vital for AIDA to proof the depth reached during the dives. This is why we are very glad to continue the long-term relationship with Suunto.”
Among the Suunto’s new D-Series wristop dive computers range the Suunto D4i and D6i models are equipped with a dedicated freedive mode which is capable of sampling depth at three times a second to provide highly accurate data of the true depth reached.
